Google unveiled its latest smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, last week and the company is working hard on advertising the phones and attracting customers. It seems that it has already spent millions on TV ads and other campaigns.

Reuters reported that the tech giant spent $3.2 million on television ads in the past few days and the company might spend even more. Verizon, the US carrier that exclusively sells Pixel phones, might spend several millions more in order to promote them.

Google will be directly competing against the biggest smartphone makers out there in a race to take up market share that Samsung is currently losing after word got out that the Galaxy Note 7 is discontinued. When it comes to Android-running smartphones, Pixel and Pixel XL are definitely some of the best options out there and even come with a smaller price than the Note 7.

Google might buy ads during Thanksgiving football games

Many consumers might take their full refunds for the Note 7 and purchase a Pixel phone, considering that the price for the smartphone offered by Google is approximately $200 lower than for Samsung’s latest flagship. For Android users, the Pixel is definitely a good option, while those who wish to switch to another OS altogether, might pick up the latest iPhone.

Analysts have stated that Google might buy ads during Thanksgiving football games, which could cost around a million dollars. Seeing how the holiday season is approaching, Google will make sure that Pixel phones are a viable option for consumers. Google officials did say that the company would be conducting a “very significant marketing campaign”.

Pixel smartphones will be available at Verizon starting October 20, while pre-orders are already live. Google is expected to sell about 4 million Pixel smartphones this year and the number might increase, given that the Galaxy Note 7 is no longer a competitor.
