Google has scheduled a big event for September 29, when we’re probably going to see the search giant unveil two Nexus devices (one made by Huawei and the other by LG) and roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But that’s not all Google might have in store for us.

The company might also announce the Nexus Protect program, which could be a service similar to Apple Care, but also a new version of its Camera app for Android. Actually, the folks at the Android Police have managed to get an early look at Google’s Camera v3.0, which will probably be included with the new Nexus hardware and will be offered via the Google Play Store.

Naturally, a bunch of new features have been identified, like a series of new shooting modes and a new option called “Creations.” Creations groups under its umbrella all the media one can create using the camera app.

For example, you can create a .gif file using an entire series of photos. Another option is to create “Group Smiles” by using a photo with smiles for everyone. Photo Booth will deliver a long strip with poses on it. Moreover, an advanced Collage feature will also be baked into the new version of the application.

Another upgrade coming with Google’s Camera v3.0 is Smart Burst. The feature was introduced with the Camera v2.5 version, but back then it was deemed to be incomplete and in the early stages of testing.

Well, it seems that Google has taken the time to perfect the option, and in Camera v3.0, users will be able to rapidly take multiple pictures and then choose the best among them.

The results are subsequently scored, with the good ones going into permanent storage while the others will be deleted or held for review. The Smart Burst option will work only with the main camera and not the selfie one.

The new camera app resembles the old version visually and it doesn’t seem like Google wants to intrinsically change it from this point of view. So the company has just added a bunch of new functionalities into the mix.
