The smartphone that got the worst updates of them all

Nexus 6 is the only smartphone launched by Google that usually gets its OS update later than the others. Sadly, when these updates finally arrive, they break various features that were working or adds bugs that need to be fixed in future releases.

Well, it appears that Google has decided to call it quits and might be thinking to get all Nexus 6 stuck on Android 7.0 Nougat. As some of you probably know by now, Google has already released Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Nexus 6, but the update brought several bugs.

The newly discovered bugs were then addressed in the most recent March security update, which, in turn, broke Android Pay support. Nexus 6 seems to be cursed for some reason, and Google doesn't seem to have the solution to cure it.

According to AndroidPolice, many Nexus 6 users now report they have captured a new OS update that rolls back their software version to Android 7.0 Nougat, even though they had Android 7.1.1 installed.

A fresh thread that now gathered many comments is up on reddit, as Nexus 6 owners continue to receive Android 7.0 Nougat updates on their phones.

Google has yet to make any comments on the matter, but we're certain that, if these aren't just some isolated cases, the search giant will start communicating with customers sooner or later.

Also, the fact that some Nexus 6 owners are now getting rolled back to Android 7.0 Nougat could be a mistake. A server gone haywire or another bug that force-pushes these updates although it shouldn't.

What's worse is that, after the update, many apps will start crashing, so the only option Nexus 6 owners have is to completely wipe their devices and reinstall everything. We're waiting for a sign from Google, but this looks like another blunder.
