14 DAY TRIAL // Great news for Nexus owners, as Google has just released a new security update that's supposed to patch up more security vulnerabilities discovered in Android.
Google promised several weeks ago that it would deliver monthly security updates for Nexus devices in an attempt to make Android safer and more secure.
Whether that is achieved in the next couple of months remains to be seen, but this month's update confirms Google is at least willing to limit the holes in Android's defense.
According to the search giant, depending on your Nexus device, the software version of this update may vary.
For example, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P owners should now look for software update MDB08M while Nexus 9 and Nexus 5 users will be getting software update MRA58N.
Also, Wi-Fi 2013 Nexus 7 tablets should receive software update MRS58V whereas Nexus Player owners should start looking for software version MRA58N.
The factory images for most of the Nexus devices have already been released with few exceptions (Nexus 6 and 2013 Nexus 7 LTE).
Critical security exploits and issues have been addressed
The contents of the update have been detailed by Google in a security bulletin. It looks like the update is meant to patch a critical security vulnerability, which OEMs have been notified on earlier last month.
Other security issues have been addressed too, but no additional details have been provided. Here is Google's official statement regarding Nexus November security OTA update:
“The most severe of these issues is a Critical security vulnerability that could enable remote code execution on an affected device through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files.”
