Google wants to make the process of moving from iPhone to Android more straightforward, and to do this, the company must address one of the most important annoyances of the migration.

Moving all data from one device to another is one major pain in the neck, and the search giant knows this very well. This is why Google is trying to make the whole process a little bit more straightforward with a new app specifically aimed at iPhone users planning a switch to Android.

Called simply Switch to Android, the new iPhone app is now live on the App Store, and its purpose is exactly the one mentioned above.

App already available for download

The app helps move contacts, calendar events, photos, and videos from an iPhone to an Android device. Furthermore, the app also offers other recommendations, such as turning off iMessage to get messages on new devices, while also offering assistance to copy photos and videos from iCloud.

“The Switch to Android app from Google helps you quickly and securely move your most important data types – photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events — to a brand new Android device without fussy cables. The app also walks you through other important steps to setting up your device, like turning off iMessage so you don’t miss text messages from friends and family. The app will ask you for a series of permissions so that your iPhone’s data can be moved to your Android device,” the description of the app reads.

Google’s new app requires at least iOS 12 or later, so in theory, it can be installed on the majority of the iPhones out there.

This makes perfect sense, after all, as Google’s main goal here is to provide iPhone users with a pain-free experience when it comes to giving up on their Apple devices and making the switch to Android.
