Google is currently working on two new smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, which it intends to unveil on October 4. The company has started dropping hints on the upcoming unveiling, with the latest being a statue it placed in Brooklyn.

Google is promoting the October 4 event for unveiling the upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones with a statue placed in Brooklyn, New York. An image of the statue was posted on Reddit and it features the G logo, together with the October 4 date and the frame of a phone.

The design of the upcoming device is difficult to make out and the #MadeByGoogle mark appears on the platform the statue is based on in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The sculpture is just one of the marketing measures Google has taken so far.

Just a few days ago, the company launched a commercial for promoting the October 4 event and there's also a website where fans can register and get the latest news about Google's upcoming phones.

Pixel and Pixel XL could come with IP53 certification

Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are manufactured by Google and HTC. They're said to come with IP53 certification, which protects them from water splashes and dust. The phones are also said to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, as well as the new Pixel Launcher and Google Assistant.

Google Pixel could come with a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and run on a Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM. It could also have a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU and Adreno 530 graphics processing unit.

Internal storage could reach 32GB and the phone could come with a fingerprint scanner on the back and a 12MP rear camera. Front camera capacity could reach 8MP.

Pixel XL will have roughly the same design as Pixel, but will carry some different specs. The phone will have a larger display of 5.5 inches and 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. It could also come with Snapdragon 821 processor, but that remains to be seen.
