Google has just announced that a new version of Google+ is now available to Android and iOS users, but the Web experience is also improved with the latest changes.

According to the search giant, following the feedback received in the past weeks, two features kept coming back: Communities that averages 1.2 million new users every day, and Collections, launched about five months ago and now growing even faster.

Since so many Google+ users are taking advantage of these two relatively new features, Google has decided to help people to spend less time discovering and sharing things they love by redesigning the Android and iOS applications.

The fully redesigned Google+ puts Communities and Collections front and center. They are now focused around interests while the application is now much simpler to use and more mobile-friendly.

Update mobile versions will be released in the coming days

Keep in mind, though, that you must opt in to this new version of Google+ on the web to see the changes mentioned earlier.

“Today we’re taking a big step toward making Google+ an even better place for your interests. To do so, we’ve drastically simplified nearly every aspect of the product. You’ll see this clearly in our new navigation centered around Collections and Communities,” explains Luke Wroblewski in a blog post.

For the time being, the new Google+ experience is only available on the Web, but the search giant promised that, in the coming days, they would roll out updated apps for Android and iOS applications.

Moreover, Google promised it would continue to listen to its users and add new features and improvements to Google+.

“Your feedback got us this far - as we continue to refine Google+, we’d love to keep hearing from you. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing how today’s changes help kickstart even more conversations around everything from Zombie Cats to Vintage Calculators,” says Eddie Kessler, director of Streams, Google.
