Concept imagines the Google Play Store on PCs

Windows 10 concepts out there imagine all kinds of new features coming to Microsoft’s operating system, but in most of the cases, everything looks a lot better than what the company actually implements in its final products.

A concept that’s making the rounds today envisions something that’s never going to happen for a million reasons: Google Play Store running on the Windows 10 desktop.

While it does look good and for some having the Google Play store on a Windows 10 PC is a good idea, you can bet there’s no chance you’ll ever get such a mix. And the first reason is because Google already has its own more or less desktop platform that it’s committed to, the Chrome OS, and this is the right place for providing users with access to Android app.

Then, Google has never been interested in releasing apps for Windows 10, and there’s absolutely no chance to see the company making the Play Store itself available for Microsoft’s desktop OS.

What Android apps on Windows? Try BlueStacks

Of course, let’s not forget that most of the apps available in the Google Play Store aren’t optimized for bigger displays, and this is why Microsoft’s push for universal apps is so important. Microsoft is trying to make apps in the Windows Store look good no matter the size of the screen, so universal apps should be able to adapt to different resolutions and screens, like smartphones, tablets, and PC monitors.

For what it’s worth, you can already try out the Google Play Store on Windows PCs with the help of Bluestacks, but other than that, the mix of Windows and Android has no chance to ever see daylight.

Microsoft actually tried to mix Windows and Android at some point during the development of Windows 10 Mobile with Project Astoria, but the company gave up on this idea and Windows phones can’t run Android apps at this point.
