Great news for audiophiles who use Google Play Music streaming service to take their daily dose of music, as the mobile application has just received a major update that brings lots of visual changes and improvements.

The most obvious is the complete overhaul of the user interface, which should make the application much easier to use. But Google also made some important under-the-hood improvements, such as the addition of a machine learning feature that's supposed to guess what music you like.

Then, the machine learning feature mixes in signals like location, activity, and the weather, along with some curated playlists, to personalize music for wherever and whenever you feel like listening to music.

Google also added some contextual tools that are already being used by some of its services. If you decide to opt in, Google will provide you with personalized music based on where you are and why you are listening.

For example, if you get to the gym, your personalized workout music will be just a tap away. The same goes for a sunset soundtrack, or when you're exploring a new location.

New home screen and offline mode

The new version of Google Play Music comes with a fresh home screen built for every user. Based on what music you've listened to before and the new machine learning feature, the application will now put suggestions directly on the home screen.

And, obviously, don't forget that you can always make playlists available offline, so when you don't have Internet connection, you will still be able to listen to your favorite music.

According to Google, the new version of its music application will be available on Android, iOS and web starting this week. However, since it will be rolled out globally in no less than 62 countries, it might take a while until it reaches all users.
