Developers have exactly 30 days to comply

Google has just updated its Play Developer policies with some changes that will take effect beginning today. This means that those who publish an app or game after June 25 will be subject to the new changes.

Furthermore, developers that already submitted their work to Google Play Store will have exactly 30 days to comply to the new policy changes.

Speaking of which, here are the main changes that are highlighted by Google in emails sent to Android developers:

“- A new sensitive events policy addresses sensitivities around tragic events, such as natural disasters or global conflicts.

- To protect users from harm, we’ve introduced new deceptive behavior language to more clearly define expectations for app functionality.

- We’ve clarified language in the paymentpolicy section for consistency and added links to a supplemental help center article for additional developer support.

- To ensure a secure and consistent customer support experience for our users, we’ve introduced a provision which governs the transfer of in-app virtual currencies purchased in an app.

- We’ve specified that apps should not harm, interfere with, or improperly access Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).”

Developers can provide feedback by taking a brief survey

The newly updated Developer Program Policy page doesn't contain changes other than those mentioned earlier.

Aside from updating the Google Play Developer policies, the search giant is also asking developers to offer their feedback the new terms and policies. In order to do that, developers will have to take a brief survey, which is available online.

So there you have it folks, Android developers should read the new changes with the utmost attention possible, as they will be subject to the new changes effective today.
