There’s not much of a difference between the two phones

Once a premium smartphone is launched and made available on the market, many conduct various tests on the model to see how it would perform in real-life conditions or to test its durability. Pixel XL from Google has undergone many durability tests to evaluate its strength, and it seems that the phone was also subjected to a speed test against one of Samsung’s latest flagships, the Galaxy S7 edge.

The Google Pixel XL has some similar specs to Samsung’s Galaxy S7 edge, the latest flagship to have come from the South Korean company before the Galaxy Note 7. Many Galaxy Note 7 owners are tempted to exchange their phones for a Galaxy S7 edge or a Pixel XL, so a speed test on the two devices is certainly useful.

The speed test was conducted by SuperSaf TV and it includes operations like camera launch, browser, mobile apps, multitasking, and fingerprint unlock.

The test uses the Galaxy S7 edge version with Exynos 8890 SoC with 8 cores and 4GB of RAM, while the Pixel XL runs Snapdragon 821 SoC with 4 cores and the same amount of RAM. The Galaxy S7 edge runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, while the Pixel XL has Android 7.1 Nougat, so take that into consideration.

The two phones are quite similar in terms of performance

The video shows that there’s not much of a difference between the fingerprint scanner on the two devices. During the Geekbench test, the S7 edge managed to score slightly higher than the Pixel XL, in both the single and multi-core test.

Both phones come with camera launch shortcuts and it seems that there’s not a big difference between them. The devices manage to open apps and notifications in about the same amount of time, but it seems that the S7 edge launches games a bit faster than the Pixel XL. However, one must take into consideration that the two phones run different operating systems and have different graphics processing units.

The video isn’t conclusive for real-time performance, but it did reveal that the devices are quite similar in terms of performance, with the S7 edge being slightly faster when loading games. However, the fact that some applications might not be optimized for Android 7.1 is a factor that must be taken into account.
