Distorted static noise at the highest volume level

It turns out that the Pixel phone is a rushed device, as many issues seem to affect both models weeks after purchase. Lens flare, camera and Bluetooth issues, screen flickering, and even manufacturing flaws are just some of the problems that Google Pixel owners have confronted with since its launch.

The newest issue that is said to be affecting both Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones is related to sound at the highest volume. Since Google hasn't commented on the matter, it's unclear if this is a software or a hardware issue.

But let's just take a look at what this sound issue is all about and how it affects the Pixel phones. A Reddit user that goes by the nickname badmark claims he replaced his Pixel XL phone four times due to an audio issue.

Four Pixel XLs and my wifes standard Pixel, all have static distortion at the highest three levels of volumes. I would suggest checking to see if your device exhibits this issue and contact Google if such.

Google needs to acknowledge and take care of this issue as it is unacceptable behavior for a $900 device. EDIT: Just loaded NMF26Q which is the second December update for the Pixel XL, the issue still exists.”

He's also running a poll to determined whether or not these audio issues are widespread, and from the results, it does seem that many Pixel users are experiencing sound problems.

Out of 328 votes registered, 38% claim their Pixel XL phones are affected by the issue, while 28% Pixel owners said the same thing.

Only 22% Pixel XL and 12% Pixel users claim their phones aren't affected by the audio issue.

The good news is Google seems to be willing to replace your Pixel/Pixel XL phone if it is affected by this audio problem. It remains to be seen if the issue will be eventually addressed or Google thinks that it's worth trying to reproduce it.
