Battery life is one of the most important aspects of any smartphone, especially if it belongs to a premium range. Google’s Pixel XL has a battery capacity of 3,450mAh, while the Pixel has 2,770mAh.

Reddit user has created a table comparing battery life on two Nexus smartphones with battery autonomy on Pixel and Pixel XL phones. Nexus 5X and Pixel have almost the same battery capacity, but the latter seems to have a 2.6% bigger battery than the 5X.

This provides the Google-branded phone with an increased standby time of 456 hours, which is 36 hours more than what Nexus 5X can offer. Talk time on the Pixel is 26 hours, compared to 20 hours on the Nexus 5X. In addition, Internet use on Wi-Fi and LTE is considerably longer on the Pixel, while users can spend 30% more time playing videos and audio on Google’s latest smartphone compared to last year’s Nexus 5X.

Battery life on Pixel XL is significantly higher than on Nexus 6P

Besides the numbers for the comparison between Pixel and Nexus 5X, the table also shows stats regarding the Pixel XL and Nexus 6P, which was also released last year. The two smartphones have the same battery capacity, but standby time is 25.5% higher on the Pixel XL.

Additionally, talk time on the recently-released device is 39.1% higher, while Internet use on Wi-Fi, LTE and video playback are also 40% higher on the Pixel XL. Owners of Google's latest phone can spend 30 hours more playing audio on their phones, compared to Nexus 6P users.

It’s worth mentioning that the numbers were released by Google and they don’t necessarily reflect real life use. Still, Google does apply the same battery tests on its devices so the numbers aren’t quite dismissible.

This impressive performance is mostly due to the latest Qualcomm processor found inside Pixel smartphones, Snapdragon 821. The SoC is said to be two times faster than the SD810, used in Nexus 6P. SD821 is coupled with Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, which takes up 40% less power than the Adreno 430 GPU mounted on the Nexus 6P. Android 7.1 Nougat also comes with some battery life improvements, although they make a difference only in standby mode.
