14 DAY TRIAL // A new case leak claims to provide us with a closer look at the upcoming Google Pixel 3 XL, a revamped model that’s supposed to compete against the likes of the 2018 iPhone.
While it shows nothing more than the design of the smartphone, the alleged leak does provide us with a closer look at what to expect from the new bigger Pixel, while also confirming one controversial feature.
By the looks of things, the Pixel 3 XL will almost certainly boast an iPhone X-like notch, which means that the device will most likely feature improved facial recognition. Additionally, there are two front-facing cameras for better selfie photos and video calls.
In addition to the notch at the top of the screen, the Pixel 3 XL will also feature a pretty big chin, which according to this leak will be the home of a speaker. The Pixel 3 XL will obviously feature stereo audio.
Even if there’s obviously a chance that this leak isn’t accurate, it does corroborate some of the information that surfaced lately, including the possibility of the Pixel 3 XL featuring such a single camera on the back.
Single camera on the back
This is unexpected, to say the least, especially because all rivals have already switched to dual-camera configurations on the rear, but for some reason, Google still wants to go for a single main unit. This probably is an indication that Google bets big on this lens, and the company will achieve top performance with a new mix of hardware and software optimizations.
If this is the case, Google will definitely outclass its competition, especially since it’d use just a single sensor, whereas others, like Huawei, have already launched triple-camera configurations.
The fingerprint sensor will still be there on the back of the phone, so despite possible facial recognition, Google isn’t planning to get rid of this feature.
As usual, a certain amount of skepticism is recommended when looking at these leaks, and more information should emerge as we get closer to the rumored October launch date.
