The Pixel and Pixel XL are plagued by yet another issue

There’s no doubt that Google’s Pixel smartphones have one of the best rear camera modules in a smartphone and feature smooth performance, combined with a sleek design. Unfortunately, Pixel phones are hard to come by, and some users have reported issues with their phones.

The latest problem that seems to affect Pixel smartphones is related to backups of text messages, call history, and applications. Some users even reported that other backup types failed. The current cause isn’t known, but complaints about the issue started soon after the phones were released last year, while the matter remains unsolved.

A Google support specialist even stated on the company’s product forums that he experienced the issue, but no further information was given. The error is quite silent, which means that the device can’t perform a full backup process and it would be prudent to check if the data was actually backed up in the expected manner.

Pixel smartphones can’t back up some files

In order to check, users simply need to access the Settings menu, Backup and Reset, Backup section, and see if any items in the Content section are waiting for backup.

The items that do have the text written underneath weren’t backed up and users should find another method to perform the process. Google is currently reaching to users who experienced this issue and a fix will probably be rolled out, once it’s made available.

This isn’t the only issue that affected owners of Pixel smartphones, though. After a recent Android 7.1.2 update, many have reported that the fingerprint sensor stopped working. The problem seems to have affected owners of Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, as well as the LG-made Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

The Bluetooth on Google’s Pixel-branded phones has also encountered issues, as after the February security patch update, the devices suddenly started losing Bluetooth connectivity. Google is usually quite quick at fixing issues related to Pixel smartphones, but that obviously depends on the problem itself.
