Google made its fans work for the information

Google I/O will take place in the company’s own backyard starting on May 17, the company announced through a set of puzzles.

The biggest yearly event for Google, the I/O Conference, where the tech giant launches new software, makes cool announcements and introduces new plans for the future, will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California, over three days - May 17, 18 and 19.

Typically for Google, the company did not just come out and tell the world the dates and the venue of the conference, instead choosing to tweet a few puzzles. For instance, one of them came from the developer unit over at the company and read “around the world, from here to there, to the most clever minds, the secret will share.” It also had the hashtag #savethedate, which is used most commonly for wedding announcements.

One thing led to another

The folks over at Hacker News went from puzzle to puzzle and managed to solve the whole thing in no time, which probably wasn’t something Google expected. That is because the company’s I/O site is not yet fit to answer any more questions for those curious, like how to get tickets, how much they cost and how you can get them for free and so on.

Despite all the excitement the group of people working on the riddles expressed while solving the thing, the results were categorized as “anticlimactic,” since there was nothing more to be done once the dates and location were found.

This isn’t the first time Google holds the event at the Shoreline Amphitheater. Last year, in fact, the 10th anniversary of the conference was commemorated on the very same stage. At that same event, Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, talked a lot about artificial intelligence, the Google Assistant and Google Home, as well as Android Nougat. There were many things unveiled last year, and there probably will be just as many this year. We’ll just have to wait and see.
