Everybody is building earbuds these days, and unsurprisingly, Google is one of the companies that are betting big on these little devices that allows you to stay in touch with everything wirelessly.

The Google Pixel Buds are already available for purchase, but according to a report from 9to5Google, the search giant is currently working on a new model called Pixel Buds A.

While at the first glance the A tag in the name is as mysterious as it gets, it looks like what we have here is actually a more affordable version of the device, and it could see daylight later this year.

More affordable earbuds?

The Pixel Buds A will still come with a design similar to the main Buds, though Google is reportedly pondering some new colors too, including full white and green. Touch controls will also be offered, so it’ll certainly be interesting to see how Google manages to make them more affordable.

The company itself has remained tight-lipped on these alleged Buds A, but on the other hand, Google confirmed that earbuds have become an essential part of our daily device portfolio, so investing in updated versions is something that makes sense in the long term.

“Many of us turn to our phones constantly. On average, people check their smartphones almost 100 times a day, and more than half of those interactions—playing a song, setting a reminder or getting directions—are less than 30 seconds. Google Pixel Buds can help make those quick tasks easier and faster, with instant access to the Google Assistant. Plus, they’re comfortable and secure in your ear, deliver high-quality sound, make clear calls, and have a long battery life,” the company says.

The Pixel Buds are currently being sold for $179, so the new Buds A are likely to be priced in the $150 region.
