Google's new doodles bring in a cute mouse

The new season is finally here, and Google is celebrating with a pair of new doodles to match the weather, depending on where you live.

Today is the first day of spring for people living in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of fall in the Southern Hemisphere. To mark the special occasion, Google is showing off two different doodles.

As you know, March 20 marks the equinox, which marks the day in the year when the day is equal in length to the night, both lasting 12 hours.

"We use the equinox to mark the change of seasons, as the balance of light shifts to make for longer days or nights. It usually means that it's time to time to rise and shine for warmer seasons, or hunker down for colder ones, as in the case of our furry friend the mouse! You may also notice that on the equinox, the sun rises directly in the east and sets directly in the west, whereas at other times in the year, it appears off-center if you're facing those directions. Today, we mark the equinox with a Doodle to celebrate the changing seasons," reads Google's description of the doodles.

One mouse, two scenarios

Since the seasons are opposite depending on what side of the equator you live, folks in the North are finally getting some warm weather with the spring approaching, while folks in the South are enjoying some cooling down with the fall approaching fast.

The Google doodle for the Northern Hemisphere shows a cute mouse in its undergrown burrow waking up for the day, going out into a field of flowers and picking up one. It then brings a daffodil inside its home, puts it in water and returns to take a much-needed nap after putting in so much effort.

The doodle for the Southern Hemisphere shows the same little mouse in its cute burrow, but this time there are no more colorful flowers. Instead, above the ground, there are loads of orange leafs which the mouse runs through, wrapped up in a warm scarf. A hot cup of tea and some wheat complete the fall atmosphere.
