Google managed to create an awesome doodle on short notice

Google is celebrating the biggest astronomical discovery in recent years with an impromptu doodle that's absolutely adorable.

While Google's doodles are usually planned in advance, linked to various anniversaries, celebrations or events in history, this one was done on the spot, pulling out all the stops to help commemorate the discovery. And they went full-out, coming up with a cute animated Doodle, rather than a simple drawing, indicating that Google's geeks may be just as excited about the discovery as the rest of us.

Not the first, but most exciting

NASA announced that it discovered seven planets revolving around a dwarf star named Trappist-1. Three of them are Earth-like and they could have oceans, and just the right temperature to support life. Less than 40 light years away, the planets are close enough that we could very well find out if their atmospheres could hold the elements that life requires, even if it will take a while do to this.

In the past few years, NASA has managed to spot quite a few exoplanets in the galaxy, over 3,400 of them, but the number they expect is in the 100 billion region. So far, scientists have said about several of them that they could very well have the right conditions to have water, or to support life, but they've never been this excited about a discovery before. That's also probably because there are now three out of seven planets in the habitable zone.

Trappist-1, the star the planets revolve around, is slightly larger than our own Jupiter, which means it's way smaller than the Sun. The light reaching the planets is much dimmer than what Earth gets from the Sun, and it's a shade of pink, scientists believe.

Even if there is no life on the planets in this very instant, there are high chances that there will be in the future.
