The search giant takes the wraps off its smartwatch

Google has just announced the Pixel Watch, a device that the company announced earlier this year at I/O but which is now ready for prime time in the United States and a series of other countries.

Probably the first thing most people would notice when checking out the Pixel Watch is the design of the smartwatch. Measuring 41mm wide, the Pixel Watch comes with gigantic bezels at a time when the world is going bezel-less.

This makes the Pixel Watch rather ugly, though this is obviously subjective and some people might actually enjoy the circular design with this old-school approach.

The device features an always-on display and is protected by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass, with a crown that supports both rotation and press input.

One of the main highlights is the Fitbit integration, so in theory, the Pixel Watch should excel in terms of tracking. It comes with an army of sensors and can monitor sleep, blood oxygen, and take ECG readings.

It has pretty much all the health capabilities you find on Fitbit smartwatches, including Active Zone Minutes and Sleep Score. Needless to say, it comes with water resistance and supports sleep tracking as well.

When it comes to hardware, the Pixel Watch runs on an Exynos 9110 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS are also supported. Google will also launch a 4G LTE version in specific countries.

The device comes with a magnetic charging puck, and packs a 294 mAh battery, which according to Google should provide around 24 hours of usage.

The device will go on sale on October 13 in several countries, including the United States, the UK, Canada, Ireland, France, and Germany. Pricing will be $349 for the Wi-Fi model and $399 for the LTE version.
