Google has announced a new set of improvements for Workspace, and this time, Gmail is among the products that are getting further polishing.

Google doesn’t provide too many specifics on how it improves the search experience in Gmail, but the company says that the web-based version will provide users with more relevant results based on their recent search activity.

In other words, the Gmail search on the web should now be more refined, though it’s important to keep in mind the change isn’t aimed at the mobile versions of the email app.

“In July, we announced better search and suggestion options in Gmail. Now, when using Gmail on the web, this also includes better search results based on your recent search activity in Gmail. This enhancement to Gmail search makes results more relevant and contextual,” Google explained in the announcement.

In addition, the search giant said that it’s bringing features to share Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files in a Google Meet chat in a more straightforward manner.

“Earlier this year, we announced the ability to join or present to a Google Meet call from Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Now, if you are presenting or joining a meeting from a file, you can easily share that file with meeting attendees through in-meeting chat. With this update you’re able to grant access to a document, spreadsheet, or presentation to all or select meeting attendees, allowing everyone in the meeting to collaborate while having a conversation,” Google said.

And last but not least, Sheets users are getting a new option to resize pivot tables, therefore turning the app into a more powerful Excel alternative.

These changes rolled out earlier this week, so in theory, they should now be live for Workspace users, though it’s important to keep in mind that the rollout typically takes up to 15 business days.
