Google announced a massive Wear OS update earlier this year, and now the company says that the new version is finally live for users.

One thing that you need to know about this update is that it’s only available on Suunto 7 devices for the time being, but Google says it would go live to more manufacturers in the coming months. Needless to say, the rollout would take a while, and the search giant says the only way to get more details on the timing is to just reach out to the company that built your device.

So what does this new Wear OS update bring new to the tablet?

Google highlights the performance improvements, as the company says that Wear OS is now able to boot much faster than before.

“With the new update, your Wear OS smartwatch will keep up even better with the fast pace of your life. We’ve improved Wear OS from top to bottom, making the app launch and boot time up to 20% faster. You’ll see changes to the device controls making it even easier to manage different watch modes and workouts,” the company explains.

Improved battery life

Then, the pairing process has been substantially improved, so when setting up a new Wear OS device, everything should be completed much faster too. This means you’ll be able to begin using your smartwatch a little bit quicker.

And then, there are battery improvements, and Wear OS device owners certainly know how important this is. One of the biggest drawbacks of Wear OS smartwatches is that they always struggled in terms of battery life, and Google says this has been resolved now.

“You want your smartwatch to match the pace of your lifestyle. With Wear OS, you can now do more throughout the day and enjoy a longer battery life on your smartwatch,” the company says without providing any other specifics.

At the end of the day, this is clearly a welcome update for Wear OS, and now the only thing that’s left is for manufacturers to make it available on all their devices.
