And a fix is already on its way, Google says

Google Pixel 5 is a fantastic device, and this makes perfect sense since it comes from the company that brought us Android, but on the other hand, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it also offers an absolutely flawless experience from one end to the other.

Some of those who already received the Pixel 5 discovered that occasionally, the battery level indicator gets stuck for up to several hours.

And it happens at different percentage levels, though right now, it’s not exactly clear what’s triggering this unexpected behavior.

While this doesn’t seem to be a problem that everybody is experiencing, the good news is that Google has already acknowledged the bug. And what’s more, the company said it’s working on a fix, though for now, no ETA has been provided.

What we know is that a future Android update is supposed to correct the whole thing, so if your Pixel 5 hits the same problem, just make sure you install the new software versions that Google pushes to your device.

The workarounds

In the meantime, you can resolve the battery percentage freezing by simply plugging in your phone to a charger. Also, rebooting the phone also appears to the trick, although it goes without saying this isn’t necessarily the most convenient workaround since you’ll have to wait a while.

“The team is aware of this issue and a fix will be rolling out soon in a future Android update.  Your battery is charging, but the indicator may be stuck.  If you restart your phone and plug it into the charger again, the battery level should quickly rise to the correct level,” a Google product expert said in a discussion on the official forums.

Until the update lands, users can also install battery monitoring apps and keep an eye on their battery percentage level using their dedicated widgets.
