He said he would never do it again, he obviously lied

Based on critics’ and viewers’ reviews, British comedian Ricky Gervais did a wonderful job as host of the Golden Globes in 2010, 2011 and 2012, so there would have been great interest in seeing him on hosting duties again. Gervais discouraged more discussion on this by saying 3 was the magical number for him.

He wouldn’t return no matter what, he insisted. Technically, we would now be at liberty to call him a liar, because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organizes the Globes, confirms he will return as host for the 4th time for the 2016 edition.

“Ricky Gervais left us with a lasting impression and we are thrilled to have him back in our show as we honor the best in film and television,” said Lorenzo Soria, president of the HFPA says. “His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats.”

In other words, Hollywood, beware! The comedian made a lasting impression with his previous 3 hosting gigs by roasting every celebrity out there who deserved a good roasting, even if they happened to be in the audience and even if their name “happened” to be Angelina Jolie or Johnny Depp.

Gervais doesn’t care about stepping on toes and bruising the over-inflated egos of Hollywood stars because he knows his job is to entertain a much larger audience. As you can see from his tweets below, he promises to be just as sharp and funny on his next gig.

The Golden Globes 2016 will take place on January 10 in Los Angeles.
