The GNOME Project released today the second beta version of the forthcoming GNOME 3.32 desktop environment for public testing.

The GNOME 3.32 beta 2 release is here two weeks after the first beta version to add even more improvements and squash as many bugs as possible before the final release hits the streets next month. The second beta release of the GNOME 3.32 desktop environment also marks the beginning of the String Freeze development stage.

"GNOME 3.31.91 is now available. This is our second beta for the GNOME 3.32 release cycle. It also marks the beginning of the string freeze. From now on, we are concentrating on fixing bugs and updating translations to ensure a great 3.32 stable release," said Abderrahim Kitouni in an email announcement.

Those interested in test driving the second beta of GNOME 3.32 can use the official BuildStream project snapshot, which is the recommended way to test development builds of the open-source desktop environment because it's not dependent on your host system's packages, or compile the source packages.

GNOME 3.32 Release Candidate (RC) is coming March 6th

The final step in the development cycle of the GNOME 3.32 desktop environment is the Release Candidate (RC) milestone, tagged as GNOME 3.31.92, which will be your last chance to test this release before the final version sees the light of day on March 13th, 2019. Until then, you should test drive the GNOME 3.32 beta 2 release.

More details about all the changes included in this second beta release of the GNOME 3.32 desktop environment can be found here. GNOME 3.32 will have numerous new features and improvements, and will be supported for the next six months with two planned point releases, the first one, GNOME 3.32.1, releasing April 10th, 2019.
