The new features are pushed in stages to all users

Google has just announced it has added two new feature to its main email application for Android devices, Gmail. The new features are meant to improve productivity and allow users to spend as little time as possible to manage their inbox and concentrate more on their work.

“These days, more than two-thirds of all Gmail users check email with their phones, so having a really amazing mobile experience is more important than ever,” says Matthew Izatt, Google product manager, in a blog post.

The first new feature announced by Google, rich text format support, will allow users to add bold, italic, underlined, colored and highlighted text to their emails. All these features are now possible directly from the mobile applications.

Another new feature implemented today is called “instant RSVP.” This feature is meant for those who use Google Calendar or Microsoft Exchange. If you're using either of the two services, then you will notice that calendar invitations now include a one-tap option to show your schedule and respond.

Basically, you won't need to open up a separate application just to see if you can squeeze in a meeting or a shopping session with your friends.

Gmailify for Yahoo and Hotmail users

For those unaware, Google pushed another important Gmail update last week, which brought Gmailify for those who use Yahoo! Mail or Hotmail/Outlook.com.

The Gmailify feature allows users to link existing accounts to Gmail so that they get everything Google offers, spam protection, inbox organization and Google Now cards, without having to leave their current address behind.

This particular update has already been released so you should already be able to benefit from the new features.

If you still don't have the application, you can now download Gmail for Android for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.3 and up.
