It hasn't passed a lot of time since the official announcement of the slimmest Pocket PC phone in the whole world, the E-TEN X500, and the Federal Communication Commission has decided to make the US citizens a new gift for their December holidays by approving the market release of the device, which now is branded as a Quanta product and will wear the name of Pharos 600. Even if the new name doesn't sound as cool or as weird as its old gloofish tag, you can be sure that the decision of purchasing one for your personal use is the right thing to do.

The device will offer its future owner enough features to make him proud of its choice and by having a thickness of only 15.4 mm, it will surely make you flash it all over you go to show everyone how a Pocket PC handset should look these days. However, the important things that we'll make the user to be proud of its new smartphone are connectivity related and, I must say it, after buying it, one can truly experience what being mobile means.

One will be offered Wi-Fi 802.11 b and g standard LAN connectivity, GPRS to surf the web and access the email box, EDGE, a GPS SiRF Star III chipset to find your way easier wherever you may go and wireless Bluetooth 2.0. Together with all the connectivity features, you will also get Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system working on a 400 MHz processor, a 2 megapixel camera, a 2.8 inch QVGA display,a multimedia player for all your favorite audio and video files and a microSD memory expansion card slot to increase the storage space when needed.

With all these goodies in mind and the new FCC "Approved" stamp on the back of the handset, one can only get even more anxious when thinking about its very close release and the future price tag that the X500 is going to wear in the stores all over US. Keep your nerves calm because it is coming, and when it will do that, the time of the true slim and smart mobile experience will come along with it.
