Today, October 3, 2016, Git developer Junio C Hamano proudly announced the release and immediate availability of the first maintenance update to the latest stable Git 2.10 series.

Git 2.10 was announced only a month ago, on September 5, 2016, but its continually growing development team never stopped improving the open-source and cross-platform distributed version control system used by numerous application developers worldwide to manage the source code of their projects hosted on GitHub or locally.

Git 2.10 brought over 150 improvements, and now Git 2.10.1 is here as the most advanced build of the software, adding 94 changes that include fixes to the "diff-highlight" script, the "git symbolic-ref -d HEAD" and "git fetch http::/site/path" commands, and updates the test framework.

"The test framework left the number of tests and success/failure count in the t/test-results directory, keyed by the name of the test script plus the process ID. The latter however turned out not to serve any useful purpose. The process ID part of the filename has been removed," reads today's announcement.
