Chinese company Gionee was rumored to launch another high-end smartphone these days, the S6. Images of the handset leaked a few days ahead of its official unveil, but few details about its specs were available at that time.

Today, Gionee has announced the S6 is now up for pre-order in China for only $265 outright, which is quite a great deal, considering its hardware configuration.

Unfortunately, the only way to get the Gionee S6 if you live in other countries will be the Chinese online retailers shipping for free worldwide.

However, make sure the Gionee S6 is compatible with your carrier's network bands before you pre-order, since the smartphone targets the Chinese market.

According to Gionee, the S6 pre-orders kick off today, but the device won't go on sale until November 22, so there's still plenty of time to decide whether or not it's worth it.

Gionee S6 is a very thin smartphone at 4-6mm (curbed). It also weighs around 147g (battery included). It comes with 4G LTE and Hybrid Dual SIM (micro + nano) support.

Dual-SIM and 4G LTE are welcome additions, too

Software-wise, the S6 ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Amigo OS 3.1 on top of it.

Another selling point of the cheap smartphone might be the USB Type-C port, as well as the powerful enough 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor inside.

Also, Gionee S6 features a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Gionee has also confirmed its high-end device flaunts a large 5.5-inch AMOLED display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

It also comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera that can shoot full HD (1080p) video and features autofocus and LED flash. There's also a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front and a 3,150 mAh battery underneath the back cover.
