14 DAY TRIAL // Customers in India seem to have quite a lot of alternatives when it comes to Android smartphones. Aside from at least a dozen native OEMs that launch new products on a weekly basis, major handset makers are trying to bring their devices to a large audience as well.
Chinese company Gionee is already present in India with quite a few Android phones aimed at mid-range and budget-friendly market.
Today, Gionee officially introduced yet another Android smartphone in India, the S Plus. According to a new report, Gionee S Plus will be available for purchase this week for Rs 16,999 ($260 / €235) outright.
Potential customers will be given the opportunity to choose between three color versions of Gionee S Plus: Dark Blue, White and Golden.
In terms of specs, the S Plus comes with a large 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
On the inside, the smartphone packs a 64-bit 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.
A mid-range smartphone with some high-end features
Gionee S Plus comes with 16GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.
There's also a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front.
The S Plus is powered by a 3,150 mAh battery and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop 5.1 Lollipop operating system with Amigo 3.1 UI on top.
Other highlights of the phone include 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, along with USB Type C port, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack.
