As expected, Chinese company Gionee has just unveiled its mid-range Marathon M5 phablet that comes with a massive 6,020 mAh battery inside.

According to a new report, Gionee Marathon M5 will be available for purchase in India exclusively at Flipkart for no less than Rs 17,999 outright, which is about $270 or €255. Customers can choose from three color options: black, gold and white.

The main highlight of the smartphone is the huge 6,020 mAh battery that, the company says, should last for up to 4 days of average use.

The Marathon M5 includes two 3,010 mAh batteries that charge at the same time and offer about 62 hours of standby time with only 5% energy.

Luckily, you won't have to spend all day for the battery to recharge completely, as the smartphone comes with fast charging technology.

It's also worth mentioning that the Marathon M5 comes with reverse charging support, which means it can also be used as power bank for other devices.

A multi-purpose device that comes at a decent price

Other hardware specs of Gionee's mid-range phablet include 5.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

The smartphone comes equipped with a 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor inside, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, Gionee Marathon M5 features a 13-megapixel built-in camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, whereas in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

According to Gionee, Marathon M5 offers both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, as well as IR blaster connectivity. The smartphone ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system and Amigo 3.1 UI on top.

“Short battery life is the main point of all consumers across the world. So we took upon ourselves a mission to change that,” said Arvind R. Vohra, Country CEO and MD, Gionee India.
