14 DAY TRIAL // We reported earlier today about the unannounced Gionee GN5001, which was recently certified at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission.
But the GN5001 is not the only smartphone the Chinese handset maker plans to launch in the coming months. Another device codenamed GN9010 has been spotted at TENAA as well.
Unlike the GN5001, which is an affordable Android smartphone, the GN9010 comes with much better specs that put it in the mid-range category.
On top of that, Gionee GN9010 is a phablet since it comes with a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.
The mid-range smartphone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and is likely to ship with this version when it gets released.
An official announcement could come very soon
Since the smartphone has been certified at TENAA, these specs have been confirmed to be included in the GN9010. Speaking of which, the smartphone is also expected to pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording.
In the front, Gionee's unannounced device will feature an 8-megapixel camera (depending on market) for great selfies and video calls.
When it comes to hardware, Gionee GN9010 has been confirmed to feature an octa-core processor, probably provided by MediaTek, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. In addition, the smartphone offers microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).
Gionee GN9010 comes with support for FDD-LTE and TD-LTE, which is another indication that the smartphone will be initially launched in China. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS support, and microUSB 2.0.
Last but not least, Gionee GN9010 is only 6.9mm thin and weighs around 145g (battery included). Since it's been certified by TENAA recently, we expect the GN9010 to be officially unveiled in the next couple of weeks.
