Gionee is one of the many companies that will launch its flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress trade fair later this month.

Rumors about the Elife S8 date back to last year, but none of the information seems to have been accurate, at least until now.

The Elife S8 will be unveiled on February 24, but it will probably be available only in China at launch. However, those who absolutely want to own Gionee's flagship smartphone, there's a high chance the device will be available at various Chinese retailers that ship internationally for free.

But before making your pre-order, you might want to know what's inside the actual device. Previous rumors claimed that the Elife S8's might beat Galaxy S6 at pixel density since it was supposed to come with a 4.6-inch that supports Quad HD resolution.

The latest information that we received regarding Gionee Elife S8's specs comes directly from GFXBench where the smartphone has been recently listed.

The good news is the Elife S8 will come preloaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box and that it will pack 4GB of RAM.

Full HD display, MediaTek MT6755 CPU

Unfortunately, the prototype unit listed at GFXBench is powered by an older 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor, which was launched about nine months ago.

If the same chipset is included in the final version of the device, Gionee will probably not be able to compete with other flagship smartphones that will opt for the more powerful Snapdragon 820 CPU.

Also, the 4.6-inch display that was rumored since last year will only support full HD (1080p) resolution, not Quad HD.

Oddly, the smartphone will include a powerful Mali-T860 graphics processing unit, which was launched only a few months ago.

The listing at GFXBench also confirms that Gionee Elife S8 will pack 64GB of internal memory, but there's no mention of microSD card slot.

Last but not least, Gionee Elife S8 will pack a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.
