Gionee has been teasing the upcoming release of its flagship smartphone, the Elife E8, for a few days now. Today, the Chinese company has confirmed the handset will be available for purchase in India beginning next week.

According to a new report, customers will be able to pick this one up from Snapdeal for no less than Rs 34,999 outright, which is about $540 or €475.

Gionee Elife E8 has already been released in China, but Indian customers will now be able to get the high-end smartphone as well, exclusively via Snapdeal from October 12.

The top-tier device will be available in Golden color, but additional color schemes might be provided in the future.

When it comes to software, Gionee Elife E8 ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Amigo UI 3.1 on top of it.

A powerful smartphone priced decently

It's unclear whether or not Gionee will offer an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the future, so we can only hope that the Chinese company will deliver the new version of the OS as an update.

Hardware-wise, the Elife E8 is equipped with a powerful 64-bit 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, a PowerVR G6200 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.

Moreover, the smartphone comes with 64GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Another strong point of the handset is the huge 6-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

As expected, Gionee Elife E8 offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, as well as fingerprint sensor and USB OTG (USB-on-the-go).

On the back, there's a powerful 23.7-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual-tone LED flash, OIS (optical image stabilization) and 4K video recording, while on the front, there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for great selfies and video calls.

Last but not least, Elife E8 is powered by a 3,520mAh battery and packs NFC (Near Field Communication) and NXP Smart PA audio chip with stereo speakers that offer DTS support.
