BRIX GB-EKi3A-7100 fanless mini-PC is official

If you’re looking for a mini PC that makes little to no compromises at all, Gigabyte is back with a completely new device featuring hardware and technologies pretty difficult to fit into such a small case.

The so-called BRIX GB-EKi3A-7100 is first and foremost a fanless mini PC that uses a chassis specifically designed to contribute to cooling. The case looks and acts like a heatsink, so it’s basically a passive cooling system, leading to a completely silent device that you can carry around effortlessly.

Hardware specs

The device measures just 36 mm x 117 mm x 180 mm (1.42" x 4.61" x 7.09") and is powered by an Intel Core i3-7100U chip that can go up to 2.40 GHz and which is coupled with DDR4 RAM (maximum of 32 GB) - you need to buy it separately, though.

Gigabyte also installed the typical connectivity options like Wi-Fi and a plethora of ports, such as headphone and microphone jacks, USB 3.1 Type-C and Type-A, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, and an Ethernet connector.

As far as storage goes, the pocket PC supports 1 x M.2 slot (2280_storage) PCIe /SATA, while for graphics, it features an integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 board.

Pricing and availability are not yet disclosed at this point, and full information will be provided at a later date, though you shouldn’t expect the new Gigabyte PC to be too expensive.

One of the ways Gigabyte is trying to keep the price as low as possible is the lack of storage and RAM, so keep in mind that in addition to the device itself, you also need to purchase memory and storage to get it working.

On the good side, you can buy exactly as much space and memory as you want to tailor the device to your needs, though for those aiming for a seamless purchase, this isn’t the most convenient way to go.
