In a surprising turn of events, we're going to have not one, but two major PS4 exclusives in the next couple of months: Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II. Early this month, Sony announced the sequel to The Last of Us will be delayed indefinitely citing disruptions in the distribution channels due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Along with The Last of Us Part II, the Japanese company delayed another important title – Marvel's Iron Man VR. However, the Sony backtracked on the decision and revealed today that The Last of Us Part II will be launched on June 19.

Unfortunately, the new release date overlaps with the launch of yet another big PS4 exclusive: Ghost of Tsushima. Sony confirmed in early March that Sucker Punch's triple A title will arrive on June 26, just one week after The Last of Us Part II.

Sadly, at that time, Sony didn't know that it will be forced to schedule the release of The Last of Us Part II in June. So, in order to avoid two major PS4 exclusive titles to be launched just one week from one another, the Japanese giant delayed Ghost of Tsushima by a month.

According to Sony, Ghost of Tsushima will now be launching on PlayStation 4 on July 17. Obviously, this raises the question of why Sony didn't schedule the release of The Last of Us Part II one month earlier or later, but the answer is probably just as obvious: The Last of Us Part II is more important for Sony than Ghost of Tsushima.

But there's no need to criticize Sony for its decisions that have been purely made for economic reasons. Both developers, Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch will have more to gain because there should be enough time to promote the games.

Not to mention that we, gamers, we'll have enough time to complete The Last of Us Part II before Ghost of Tsushima drops a month later.
