It seems that Microsoft is getting ready to make an official announcement about the PC version of the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition collection. This move comes after the game briefly made an appearance on the official Windows 10 store before being quickly pulled because some of the information associated with the listing was apparently incorrect.

WindowsCentral managed to get a look at the official page before the company pulled it and says that the price listed was more than 700 dollars or Euro, which is clearly not what the title will actually cost when it arrives. However, plenty of other information about the video game did seem right.

Developer Black Tusk and publisher Microsoft are saying that 4K resolutions will be supported in the PC version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and that the refresh rate has been unlocked to take advantage of the powerful hardware present on Windows 10 machines.

The comic book associated with the series is also integrated into the actual title, offering more information about the universe, and gamers will also be able to experience Dolby 7.1 surround sound.

All the downloadable content packs launched for the title will be offered from the start. This means that there are 19 core multiplayer maps for gamers to explore in a variety of modes, which include Team Death Match, King of the Hill, Blitz, a community-created mode, Warzone, Assassination, Execution and Annex.

The Windows 10 version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will also have a special skin pack and 11 bonus multiplayer characters, with gamers also able to enjoy unspecified gameplay tweaks as well as alternate controls.

Dedicated servers are also among the features designed to appeal to PC fans, a sign that Microsoft really wants the competitive side of the title to appeal to fans.

Gears of War 4 is already in development at The Coalition

The Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was supposed to arrive on the PC last year but has been quietly delayed, although up to this point there are no official reasons.

Microsoft has recently said that it is offering the coming Quantum Break on Windows 10 PCs for free to all those who are getting it on the Xbox One, and that might mean the company is planning to announce that more of its big titles are coming to the PC.

The Coalition, the studio led by Rod Fergusson, is already working hard on the next title in the franchise, and Gears of War 4 is supposed to arrive before the end of the year and will deliver a new story as well as updated mechanics.

The developer has said that it wants to make the experience a showcase for the power of the Xbox One, but limited details about the title have been offered so far.

Gamers are speculating that a PC version of Gears of War 4 is inevitable, although Microsoft might choose to launch it a few weeks or even months after the title arrives on the home console.

A bigger announcement about the game and its features will probably be made in time for E3 2016.
