The game will arrive sooner than anticipated

Gears of War 4 is an upcoming shooter from Microsoft and The Coalition studio, and it looks like it’s going to launch a little bit sooner than anticipated.

The Gears of War franchise is one of the most successful exclusive franchises that landed on the Xbox 360 console. Only the first game in the series was released for PC, so it doesn’t really count. They were developed by a studio called Epic Game, which also happens to develop the Unreal Engine.

The problem for Microsoft was that Epic Games stopped doing Gears of War titles after their third iteration, which was launched all the way back in 2011. As you can imagine, Microsoft wants to have a new Gears of War 4 in the market so that it can sell more consoles.

Gears of War 4 is coming this fall

The solution was for Microsoft to buy the Gears of War rights from Epic Games and they are now doing their own thing with the help of The Coalition, which is an in-house studio. For help with the development, Microsoft also hired Rod Fergusson, who worked as an executive producer and director of production for all of the previous games.

Microsoft had a live stream broadcast and Rod Fergusson and Lead Multiplayer Designer, Ryan Cleven, were invited, according to a NeoGAF post.

They actually announced, albeit not in any big way, that Gears of War 4 will be arriving this fall, which is much sooner. The previous launch date was either Q1 2016 or holidays 2016. Microsoft is probably trying to get a head start and stay outside of the busy holiday season.

The Coalition was created so that they could deliver something to replace Halo, but that’s been revived by 343 Industries, so the new studio is now working on Gears of War 4.
