With Sony unwilling to make any sort of official announcement about its plans for the PlayStation VR device for the PlayStation 4, fans of the company are focusing on other sources that might offer details about plans for both launch and associated price.

Paul Raines, the chief executive officer of retailer Gamestop, is quoted by NeoGAF as saying that his company has been talking with the Japanese manufacturer and that plans are being prepared to make sure that the entire range of virtual reality tech is well marketed to potential customers.

He states, "We are right now preparing for the launches of the major VR products, so we’re in discussions with Oculus, with HTC Vive and with Sony. It's a big launch, we’re getting ready for it, we will launch the Sony product this fall, and we are in discussions with the other two players."

Sony has not confirmed the launch window and has previously indicated that it wants to make an official announcement later in the year when it has clearly defined plans for the future of the VR solution for the PlayStation 4.

Other sources have been saying that PlayStation VR will be introduced before the end of the first six months of the year.

Rumors are also claiming that Sony is planning to sell a starter kit that features its virtual reality headset as well as the Eye and the Move controller for 450 dollars or Euro while also giving potential fans the chance to get just the headset for under 300 dollars or Euro.

The company will probably also offer a bundle that features the new tech as well as a PlayStation 4 home console, to appeal to as many gamers as possible.

Oculus Rift is coming during spring for those who placed pre-orders

The company that launched the well-received Kickstarter effort for a modern virtual reality headset has been taking preorders for a while and plans to start delivering devices to gamers starting on March 28.

The company says that it plans to ramp up production to have more Oculus Rift devices available during the second half of the year when it also plans to launch the dedicated controllers associated with it.

Fans of VR have criticized the company for the price of the device, but Palmer Luckey, the president, says that his team is not making any profit from sales at the moment and that they are planning to reduce the cost through improvements in the manufacturing process.

The Vive, which is created by HTC in partnership with Valve, is set to reveal its price and the launch schedule on February 29 of this year and rumors are also claiming the devices will be shipped before the end of spring.

Sony has said that around 100 titles that work on the PlayStation VR solution are in development at the moment, but many gamers will be unwilling to pick up any of the VR devices as long as they are not associated with the biggest franchises in gaming.
