14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has launched the all-new Galaxy Watch 3, the company’s latest smartwatch that comes to compete against the Apple Watch in global markets.
First and foremost, the Galaxy Watch 3 will be offered in two different sizes, namely 41mm and 45mm, and in several colors, namely black, silver, and bronze.
Just as expected, the device is supposed to impress with its build quality, so it features a stainless steel case, with a more special version made from titanium. This is the first time Samsung goes for such a material for the watch, and is mostly the result of the South Korean trying to make the device more exquisite.
One of the best things about the GW3 is that it brings back the rotating bezel, a signature Samsung smartwatch feature that has previously been removed for a more classic approach. And even if the rotating bezel is back, the Galaxy Watch 3 is 14% thinner, 8% smaller, and 15% lighter than the original Galaxy Watch.
Titanium watch launching later this year
In terms of features, the new-generation Galaxy Watch is the first to come with blood oxygen monitoring, which tracks oxygen saturation and displays it in the Samsung Health Monitor app. Furthermore, it comes with blood pressure monitoring and ECG support, but Samsung emphasizes the latter requires regulatory approval from health bodies in each country.
Fall detection and running analysis are also coming to the watch, and to improve the working-out side of the device, Samsung is also added over 120 different video workouts to its mobile app.
The 41mm model of the watch comes with a 247 mAh battery, while the 45mm version features a 340 mAh unit. Both run Tizen 5.5 and come with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. They’re IP68-rated and support water submersion of up to 5 ATM. Power comes from Samsung’s Exynos 9110 dual-core 1.15 GHz chip.
Both models are going on sale on August 6, while the titanium version will hit the shelves at a later time this year. Pricing starts at $399 for the base configuration.
