Just when Samsung thought that it could put the whole Galaxy Note 7 debacle behind and focus on the new Galaxy S8, the company is slapped with a lawsuit. Several former Galaxy Note 7 owners from South Korea initiated legal action against the smartphone maker.

Five Galaxy Note 7 owners in South Korea filed a lawsuit against Samsung and intend to continue the legal fight, saying that the company accused them of making false claims about the phone, according to The Investor.

An official from the Harvest Law Office, the firm representing the five consumers in the lawsuit, said that “the situation is favorable for the plaintiffs as it turns out that the Note 7 fires and explosions were caused by faulty batteries.” The official also mentions that the five consumers aren’t aiming towards a settlement right now.

The first trial will take place in the next few months

The five Galaxy Note 7 owners said that staffers from Samsung’s consumer service center called them “frauds” and said they were seeking monetary compensation by making false claims about the Galaxy Note 7.

They thought Samsung was trying to force customers to pay for replacements of Galaxy Note 7 units that caught fire. Shortly after the incident occurred, they filed separate complaints against Samsung for compensation at the Seoul Central District Court, saying that the company harmed their reputation by branding them as frauds.

Samsung and the Korean government recently released their results in separate Galaxy Note 7 investigations. The smartphones apparently caught fire because of two separate issues with the Note 7 battery. These results could also help the five consumers in their case against Samsung.

This isn’t the only case involving Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7. Groups of consumers from South Korea and other countries like Canada have sued the Korean smartphone maker over injuries caused by Note 7 units when they caught fire.
