14 DAY TRIAL // The fine folks at Fellow Traveller and Chance Agency have just announced they amazing cyberpunk taxi driving game Neo Cab comes out on October 3 for PC (Windows, Mac) and Nintendo Switch. The game will be available for purchase for $15 and $20, respectively.
Neo Cab is much more than just an Uber simulator, as the protagonist's mood is influenced by the five-star rating and the money she makes. The developers say Neo Cab is an emotional survival game of rideshare driving in an AI-driven world, in which players must manage their emotions under pressure.
The game features strong narrative focus and challenges players to remain human in a world that's been lost to “automation.” In Neo Cab, you play as Lina, one of the last human rideshare drivers in a near-future, AI-driven world. With her friend and only lifeline missing, she must keep driving to make money and find a place to stay.
With the Neo Cab app, players will be able to navigate the city, choose their passengers, try to learn their stories and, possibly, even uncover the truth about their own. According to developers, Neo Cab was inspired by the rise of our app-driven daily lives:
“What are the merits of personal, human service and why are sterile, automated interactions often presented as a core part of utopia? In Neo Cab, Lina is one of the last human drivers, and so those who get into her cab are in need of the human touch! Some of her passengers will enjoy having a conversation while they get from Point A to Point B. Others might prefer that automated utopia, and see Lina as just another node in the service mesh of automated capitalism,” said Neo Cab Creative Lead Patrick Ewing.
But what's a cyberpunk-themed game without an amazing soundtrack? Well, you won't have to worry about that, as Neo Cab features a neon-soaked original soundtrack by Obfusc, well-known for Monument Valley, House of Cards. Also, a demo is now available on Steam and Nintendo Shop if you want to try out the game before release.
