The Google search mode will follow the system visual style

Google is currently working on a full dark mode for Google search, and while an ETA isn’t available just yet, it looks like the search giant is currently working on a series of pretty cool extras.

First and foremost, why a dark mode on Google search?

As you probably noticed already, dark modes are something that has become a must-have these days, with pretty much all developers out there adding such a visual style to their apps and services.

With browsers and operating systems getting a dark mode, it’s pretty clear Google needs such an update to align with the rest of the software people use on their devices, especially because the search page is loaded by so many users several times every day.

Following the system style

As you could imagine, the dark mode would replace the white background on Google’s search page with a dark grey version, and according to a new report, the Mountain View-based search giant wants to make the experience overall as straightforward as possible.

The dark mode will come with an option to follow the system visual style, which means the Google search UI would adapt to whatever mode you’re using on the device. If your computer already uses a dark mode on the desktop the Google search page would also switch to this UI. If you stick with the light visual mode, then Google also uses its classic interface.

At this point, it’s not yet known when the new feature is supposed to go live, but we’re guessing the release isn’t too far away. Google has remained completely tight-lipped on a dark mode for Google search, but there’s no doubt such a visual update would pretty much make sense given the current trends in the software industry.
