Fujifilm announced today the third generation of its X-E series of mirrorless cameras, the Fujifilm X-E3, a compact and lightweight digital camera that incorporates all the latest technologies Fujifilm recently implemented in the X-T2 and X-T20 models.

Therefore, Fujifilm X-E3 features an APS-C size 24MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor, which, along with the X-Processor Pro high-speed image processing engine, enables 4K video recording and astonishing photography capabilities, especially when used under low light conditions, thanks to the high ISO levels that can go up to 51200.

The mirrorless camera is designed for right handed operation and, just like its bigger brother X-T2, also features a front dial that allows the photographer to change easily aperture or exposure compensation. However, for the X-E3, Fujifilm put an emphasis on touchscreen operation and shooting, though the LCD is static.

"The X-E3 features a large phase detection AF area and an updated algorithm to deliver a fastest AF speed of 0.06 sec," reads the announcement. "An all-new "Touch Function" feature will be available on the X-E3, which enables gesture control like flick and pinch zoom, to further enhance touchscreen operation."

The first X Series camera to offer Bluetooth LE capability

Fujifilm X-E3 is also the first X Series mirrorless camera to offer Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) capability for wireless communication with other mobile devices when you want to shoot remotely or transfer images and videos on the go. This, of course, makes it a lot easier to communicate with the FUJIFILM Camera Remote app.

Being a compact rangefinder mirrorless camera, the X-E3 doesn't have an optical viewfinder, but it does come with a real-time EVF (Electronic View Finder), which makes it the perfect companion for travel photography and everyday use. The camera features a fully-automatic, advanced SR AUTO mode and offers 5.0fps live-view shooting.

Last but not least, Fujifilm X-E3 is capable of recording both Full HD (1920x1080) and 4K (3840x2160) video while using a total of 15 of Fujifilm's famous Film Simulation modes. Recorded video can be outputted to an external monitor through an HDMI port, and the camera supports dedicated external mics for audio input.

Fujifilm says that it X-E3 will arrive in stores starting September 28, 2017, and will have a price tag of $1,999.95 USD.
