14 DAY TRIAL // Developer 11 bit studios has just announced that the third and last major expansion for their critically-acclaimed strategy survival city-builder Frostpunk, hits PC (Steam, GOG, and Humble Store) on August 20.
Dubbed Frostpunk: On The Edge, the expansion continues the story that ended in the original game. As fans already know, the previous expansion, The Last Autumn, served as a prequel for the bestselling survival city-builder.
On The Edge serves as a sequel for the original game, which means that players will continue to lead the expedition to explore the uncharted parts of Frostland. The premise of the expansion is quite intriguing, although the story is not the main focus of Frostpunk.
Here is the blurb directly from the developer: “The storm has exposed an army warehouse from times before the evacuation. A scouting party is sent from New London to set up an outpost and a steady chain of supplies. It’s time to take another step on the laborious path of rebuilding hope and leading humankind to survival. But… the world of Frostpunk is still full of embroiled dualities: trust or skepticism, independence or domination, union, or separation. The question is, what path will you take?”
Players will now lead an outpost far away from New London and since the weather is not too severe on the edge, they managed to survive without a Generator. However, they still depend on food sent from New London since there are no animals to hunt near the outpost.
Gameplay-wise, Frostpunk: On The Edge brings a brand-new map with unique structures, new methods to divide or unite your people, new mechanics to build economic and diplomatic relations, as well as a compelling survival story set after events of the original game.
On The Edge is the conclusion of Frostpunk, one of the best survival city-builder games ever released, so anyone who has already played through the original game and the other two DLCs should buy and play the upcoming expansion.
