Trial with sausage collection proves he’s not there yet

Fritz is an adorable Golden Retriever that shot to international fame earlier this year, when his person posted to YouTube a hilarious compilation with his failed attempts to catch food items. He’s still as unskilled for that today.

If Fritz’ life or livelihood depended on his ability to catch stuff thrown directly at him, he would be in a very, very bad spot. As it is, he has his person to rely on and he looks smashing with a scarf around his neck, so he’s an Internet star.

In the latest video posted by his owner, Fritz does the sausage challenge, where he’s being thrown various pieces of sausage of different sizes, from a small cocktail one, to a very large one, which incidentally he almost catches.

His owner says that he’s been “perfecting his catching skills,” but if you compare the 2 videos, taken months apart (the second one is the vid that made him a viral star), there’s really no improvement there.

Also unchanged is how adorable he is. Voices online say that maybe the owner should get his eyes checked before posting videos about him online to “mock” him. The duo were also on ABC’s Good Morning America earlier this year, and the owner said nothing about any eye troubles, so I assume there aren’t any.

As for Fritz’s diet, you don’t have to worry about that either. “He was only rewarded with a small sample of each sausage for his efforts. Apart from these periodic indulgences, the poor boy eats dog food for every meal,” the owner says.

So Fritz isn’t blind or on his way to overweight. He is simply very, very bad at catching stuff.
