Fringland Ltd., the company that developed the fring VoIP client, launched fringME!, a new and cool widget for mobile phones that enables your Internet friends to see if you are online, to contact you or to view your exact location, all via your mobile phone.

For those into social networking, internet communities or blogs, the fringME! widget will make online connections a lot easier. All you have to do is copy the fringME! HTML code onto your web page, blog or anywhere else you have a web presence and visitors will be able to view your status (online, offline or busy) or chat with you.

The fringME! widget only supports Symbian 9.1 and Symbian 9.2 for the moment, and in order to use it you need to install the latest version of fringME on your mobile phone. A very nice feature of the widget is that, if you own a Symbian GPS-enabled device like Nokia N82 or Nokia N95, your location can be viewed in real time, via Google Maps, by your Internet contacts. The fringME! location feature can be switched on or off, guaranteeing your privacy for the times when you simply don't want to be found.

FringMe is an innovative application developed in order to enable users to chat and talk via their mobile devices' Internet connection (3G, GPRS or Wi-Fi) with other fring users or PC-based VoIP applications users. Fring makes use of your 3G data-plan or your Wi-Fi hot-spot (keeping you away from the expensive airtime minutes) and helps you stay connected with your contacts from Skype, MSN Messenger or Google Talk.

You can download the fringME! widget for free, from the fring website, by providing your fring user-ID. After downloading the widget, you must enable it from the fring menu in your mobile.
