Research firm reveals major delay of this project

Foldables are the new big thing in the mobile market, and Samsung is one of the companies spearheading the transition to this innovative form factor.

People familiar with the matter have been suggesting that Apple was already working on its very own foldable iPhone, and the target release date was until now believed to be 2023.

But according to Display Supply Chain Consultants, the Cupertino-based tech giant is unlikely to come up with a foldable iPhone until 2025. This means the company has pushed back the release of this ambitious project, which more or less makes sense given Apple wants the market to reach a more mature point before it joins this form factory push with its own model.

Furthermore, the research firm says Apple could wait for even more than that if it doesn’t think the market is ready for a foldable iPhone.

In other words, 2025 is an optimistic forecast, but the plan could change easily and the company may decide to delay it even further.

“We delayed our expectations for Apple entering the foldable smartphone market by two years to 2025 after discussions with our supply chain contacts. The company does not appear to be in a hurry to enter the foldable smartphone market, and it may even take longer than that,” the analysts said.

For now, Apple will just be sticking with the traditional form factors, and it’s believed the company will make a series of changes in the lineup of iPhones, beginning with this year. The mini model is expected to be killed off, while the 2022 generation would witness the debut of a new 6.7-inch device to be called iPhone 14 Max.

All these plans are yet to be confirmed by Apple, so it’s better to just take everything with a pinch of salt for now.
