The company feels that women had a big role in sales

Fitbit has reportedly sold more than one million Versa watches, which should put the company back in the game, at least for now.

The not-so-hot launch of Fitbit Ionic, coupled with a few slowdowns in production, took Fitbit on a downward patch, but the release of the excellent Fitbit Versa proved to be a really good move for the company.

Furthermore, Fitbit seems to aim at the mass market, but it’s not just a hollow term. They have identified a new type of customer that it’s not being looked at by other companies. We’re talking, of course, about women.

Sure, they can wear regular smartwatches that are designed to be unisex, but most of them don’t have specific features. Fitbit changed all that with the Versa, and by upgrading the official app to incorporate options for women.

One million is a good number

Undoubtedly, one of the main reasons for the good Fitbit Versa sales is the low price. One million units are nothing to sneeze at, and the company has good reason to think that the trend will continue.

“The positive response to Versa shows that we are filling this void and well positions us to gain share of the fast-growing smartwatch market. The engagement we’ve seen with our new female health tracking feature further demonstrates the value our users see in being able to get a more comprehensive look at their overall health and wellness, in a single place, in a way that other available cycle tracking tools cannot,” explained James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit.

Fitbit is betting a lot of female health tracking, and they have the numbers to prove it. Granted, the company still needs to move forward and not get complacent. It’s likely that the partnership with Google will be expanded, and that third-party developer will continue to expand the app store.
