Fitbit OS 2.0 for the Ionic was just announced, and it brings a new feature and changes to the organizational structure of the interface.

A lot of users were very keen to receive the 2.0 update for the Fitbit OS that’s powering the Ionic smartwatches, and they finally got their wish. On the other hand, it might not have everything that people wanted, but at least it shows that the company cares.

As it was to be expected, the new version of the OS has shipped to a limited number of people, about 10%. This is actually a very common practice for all manufacturers, including Google with its Android. The reason is straightforward. In case something goes wrong and the update is a dud, not everyone is going to be affected by it, although the chances of something happening are pretty small.

What’s new in Fitbit Ionic 2.0?

The most prominent feature of the update is called Fitbit Today, and it’s basically an updated dashboard that gathers all the fitness and health data. Also, it collects everything including personalized content, various stats, historical activity, exercise summaries, and much more. To access it, users have to swipe up from the clock face.

As for the music, it’s not possible to add Deezer playlists. If you have a problem with this new service, you can check a tutorial posted by Fitbit.

Also, some of the ways that users interact with Ionic have been changed, but not in any significant fashion. For example, to access the notification, users will now have to swipe down from the clock or by pressing and holding the top button.

For the stats and battery level people will have swipe up, and to access the music controls, payments, and the shortcuts screen, you have to press and hold the back button. To finish up, the order of some apps has been changed.

As usual, it recommended using a Wi-Fi network for the upgrading process, which can speed it up considerably.
